New Front Door Help!

Buying a new front door is never easy, that's why I spent weeks roaming around my neighbourhood looking for the perfect door. I took the kids with me on these outings as it was a decision that affected them, I mean they lived there too. It was a decision that I couldn't make lightly as it would be sticking around for years.
Choosing the door was probably the hardest decision I had to make, no exaggeration.
I wanted a door that I could show off to the neighbours and be really proud of. Ultimately I needed a door which gave me and my family the utmost security. Unfortunately although I lived in a nice reputable neighbourhood I lived on a road that meant a short cut for absolutely everyone. I was also still living in fear from when I was burgled just before Christmas. Although I had changed the locks I still didn't feel safe. And of course I had the kids to think about and their safety is paramount.
I have always felt that it is a good idea to window shop. That way you can compare prices and get the best deal going at the time. I can't resist a bargain but I wanted to be sensible and make sure it didn't fall apart after a few weeks.
A pen and paper always come in handy when looking at the internet and strolling round local shops. I frantically scribbled away things from types of doors to colours and size and more importantly the security. When asked by a shop assistant what size my door was I looked at them blankly. I had no idea what the measurements were, so that was my first lesson. It is crucial to have this information so that you are given an accurate quote for the end result. Otherwise you will get a nasty shock.
I decided to go for a plastic door as this was sold to me as a very safe and secure material to protect my home. It is also as heavy as a wooden door and has already saved me money on my energy bills. I saw the door on the internet and it is to die for - I am the envy of all my neighbours. The door is traditional but very contemporary and it compliments my windows so there is no danger of the two clashing. I have this magnificent door knocker which with no exceptions alerts us on any visitors. I made sure that I had a spy hole added too. This is a fantastic bonus, not just for security but so you can pick and choose whether to answer to any unwanted visitors. Joking aside, your front door is a very worthy investment and one everyone should make. Mine is apparently going to last for over 30 years so there will be plenty of post coming my way - hopefully not all bills though.
